1. On online dating spam

How do you know if your online dating partner is a spam?

By telling you a story of how a 36-year-old woman met her Mr. Right on a chatroom and almost gave away $2000, this month’s Glamor has the perfect answer to this. If you want the full story, you will have to go get copy of the magazine yourself, but here are so excerpts that I think it’s just wonderful to point out:

When the love was just blooming:

“…the one time they tried to Skype his webcam seemed to break down, yet he made up for it by writing her poems and love letters.”

The next thing she knew was that the guy was recovering from a classic relationship heartbreak:

“He said he’d walked in on his ex-fiancée in bed with another girl. ‘How did I not know she was a lesbian?’”

And of course he said the three words before he met her:

“After about two weeks, she couldn’t believe the IM that bubbled up on her screen: ‘ I love you.’”

Finally, as she thought she was about to meet the love of her life at the airport, the man was in some trouble and was in need of her financial help.

“He asked her if she has any jewelry she could sell. ‘I haven’t eaten, showered…Don’t you love me, baby?’”

After the warning she got from her friends, she decided to confront him. And of course, he was mad:

“He said, ‘I love you. Apparently you don’t love me because now you’re questioning me.’”

Sounds familiar at all?  Maybe you are “dating” a robot, a person of your same gender… oh, go figure.
