1. Cupcakes for sailors!

  2. “Letters from war” by Mark Schlultz

Randomly heard this song today and reminded me of the days when I used to write tons of letter to my ex. Now I am writing lots of e-mail to my sailor. Sometimes I ask myself too, what is up with me and soldiers? Is it the uniform? Or how tough they look? Well, all of those are possible reasons but I think the main one has to be their bravery act.

Grew up from a city like Hong Kong where I was educated under the colonial education, I really don’t have a lot of patriotism. It was after coming to America then I really feel how it is like to be a part of a nation, where everyone at least has something to feel proud of or relate to.

Among all the people in this country, I admire our troops the most. Many of them join the military because they are at a point of their lives where they don’t know what to do and the miltary seems to provide a better future. They go through boot camp, training, finally arrive at their stations and go on deployments.  I can only imagine the hardship they have to go through to serve this country.

Finally, though I don’t consider myself an American, I’m proud to do whatever I can to give moral support to the soldiers out there, especially my sailor who is currenltly away from me.

“Distance makes the heart goes fonder.”

    Make it home.
